Setting Strong Passwords and 2FA Print

  • 0

Keeping your hosting account secure is essential to protect your website, data, and emails from unauthorized access.
With Fast Host Nig, you can strengthen your security by creating strong passwords and enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).

???? Step 1: Use Strong Passwords

A strong password is your first line of defense against hackers. Weak passwords make your account vulnerable to brute-force attacks.

✅ Tips for Creating a Strong Password:
  • Use at least 12 characters.

  • Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.

  • Avoid using names, birthdays, or common words.

  • Don’t reuse passwords across different accounts.

Example of a strong password:

M@rket2025!HostNig#

???? Tip: You can use password managers like Bitwarden, LastPass, or 1Password to generate and store secure passwords.

???? Step 2: Update Passwords Regularly

It’s good practice to:

  • Change your cPanel, Client Area, and email passwords every 3–6 months.

  • Update your passwords immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

To change your password:

  1. Log in to your Client Area at www.fasthost.com.ng.

  2. Click your profile name → Change Password.

  3. Enter a new secure password and save changes.

???? Step 3: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

2FA adds an extra layer of security by requiring a verification code from your mobile device when logging in.

To Enable 2FA:
  1. Log in to your Fast Host Nig Client Area.

  2. Go to Security Settings.

  3. Click Two-Factor Authentication.

  4. Scan the displayed QR code using an authentication app such as:

    • Google Authenticator (Android/iOS)

    • Authy

    • Microsoft Authenticator

  5. Enter the 6-digit verification code from your app to confirm setup.

???? Once activated, anyone trying to log in must enter both your password and the code from your phone.

???? Step 4: Keep Backup Codes

After enabling 2FA, you’ll receive a few backup codes.
Store them securely — they can help you regain access if you lose your phone or authenticator app.

That’s It!

You’ve successfully strengthened your Fast Host Nig account security with strong passwords and 2FA.
These steps protect your hosting, websites, and data from unauthorized access — giving you peace of mind.
